This was the best example of taking an idea and running with it all the way to completion. It started post-ECCC this year with amazon costumes galore, our good friend Harbeastie killing it as Wonder Woman in the elite division of the costume contest, THEN the actual Wonder Woman movie release! Spirits were high, positive feedback was overwhelming, and talented designer friends were beyond inspired. We were involved in one of those group chats where everyone was telling everyone else how amazing they are, so talented, etc., and someone mentioned “Wouldn’t it be cool if…” followed by “Vanity Fair Cover Shoot.” And next thing you know, I’m touring a local photo studio with the layout to handle such a project. Space was booked, dates were nailed down, and five wonderful friends (plus photographer!) began to conceive of a grand vision.
Did it go as expected? It never does! It sure was pretty fantastic though! We did both armored poses and, thanks to Rachel Dooley scoring some amazing formal gowns, we switched gears and went full on Vanity Fair for some additional stunning shots. This is a sampling of our first full blown amazonian photo shoot and certainly not our last attempt to deliver such empowering, strong, and playful images.
