Video about putting the completed helmet horns on the helmet base: https://youtu.be/OYXB7wKPsxQ
The costume build: http://downencreativestudios.com/home/?p=2142
PLEASE NOTE:
On a difficulty scale of 1-5 (with 5 being the most difficult), this is definitely at least a 3 or a 4. If you are making the horns detachable, this is a much harder build. Please allow yourself plenty of time, materials and patience. :)
***please note that I do not have a build video available for this complex build, but I am happy to answer questions if you have them. I have seen SO MANY beautiful builds of these horns that others have completed without a step by step video!***
SIZING:
This was based upon my own build. You may need to adjust the sizing of the helmet to best fit your own head. With the horns attached it measures approximately 60" wide. You can scale the horns down to fit a different width if desired.
SOME VERY HELPFUL TIPS FOR YOU:
Please note that this is not a replica of the helmet or horns seen in the movie. This is my version of what was created. If you need a movie replica we suggest looking for 3d printed versions. This pattern is designed as a starting point for your own build. Because of the nature of the build, the instructions here are suggestions only and will serve as a guide.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS:
1. Several rolls of 6mm or 8mm eva foam from TNTcosplaysupply.com. You will need the uninterrupted length that the rolls provide for the width of the horns. Buy more than you think you will need. I suggest at least 3 or 4 rolls, just in case you need more thickness.
2. At least 1 or 2 rolls of 4mm eva foam
3. A small amount of 2mm eva foam for the helmet details
4. Contact cement
5. Heat gun
6. Utility knives
7. Sanding paper
8. PVC pipe and several connectors (if you’re making the horns detachable)
9. Loc-tite 5 min epoxy
10. A small amount of worbla
11. Wonder flex thermoplastic (about 12”x12”)
12. Several coat hangers or similar sturdy wire
13. Epsilon Pro and So-Strong black (optional) from Smooth-On
14. Contour Gauge
TIPS:
~ Print at 100% with your border settings set to “none” or “0” if possible.
~ Carefully tape the pages of the pattern together prior to cutting out the pieces, lining up the stars on the pages.
Thank you and happy building!
